Diemersfontein Wine invites you to stop by and visit our Tasting Room in Wellington – after all, there’s so much more to taste than just the Pinotage.

Open seven days a week from 10h00 to 16h30, with our facilities closing at 17h00; JJ and his team of tasting advisers eagerly await your visit! Whilst visiting our tasting room, you are able to sample our full range of wines, including the Diemersfontein Original range, our Flagship Carpe Diem range, as well as the Thokozani Range.

Due to limited seating in our tasting room, bookings are advisable. Groups of 8 and more will require booking in advance.

Francois Roode – Cellar Master & Winemaker

Francois began his journey in the wine industry when he did his first harvest at Perdeberg CO-OP in 2001, after which he completed 2 years of study at Elsenburg. In 2003 he was given the opportunity to work as an assistant winemaker at Diemersfontein – and that’s when he fell in love with the place! Francois, his wife Elrine and their baby daughter Sophia live in Wellington with Skollie, their Jack Russell. Francois enjoys nature and loves to go on fly-fishing trips for trout – he has even been spotted fishing for the odd carp or bass at the farm! He then furthered his studies at Elsenburg to finish his Diploma in Cellar technology.

Francois has been with Diemersfontein for 13 16 years now and continues to produce not only our famous Coffee Chocolate Pinotage, but also all the other award-winning wines under both the Diemersfontein and Thokozani brands. Pinotage is close to his heart, especially since it is a uniquely South African variety. Rhône blends, Shiraz and Chenin Blanc are some of his other favourites.
